The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday staged a mega rally at Freedom Park in Osogbo as it made a final appeal for support ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, 15 August 2026.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the event, led a strong contingent of national and state party leaders. Governors, senators, ministers and other prominent APC figures were also present.

Addressing the large crowd of party supporters and residents, Akpabio assured the people of Osun that adequate security measures had been put in place to ensure a peaceful and violence-free election. He said no one would be harassed or prevented from voting for the candidate or party of their choice.

“The President is saying that he has put enough security measures in place for the good people of Osun State to vote peacefully come Saturday,” Akpabio stated.

The APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to providing purposeful leadership and good governance if elected. He promised to deploy the resources of the state towards improving the welfare of the people and accelerating development across all parts of Osun.

The rally marked the climax of the APC’s campaign activities in the state and came amid heightened political tension and mutual accusations of violence between the major parties.

The election will decide whether the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party secures a second term or whether the APC reclaims the Bola Ige House.
