Rishi Kapoor Dies at 67, Twitter Mourns

Bollywood suffered yet another loss. A day after the demise of Irrfan khan, Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018, breathed his last breath at the age of 67 on Thursday. Kapoor returned to India after a year-long treatment, last September form United states (US).

In February, he was hospitalised twice due to his health issues. He was first admitted to a hospital in Delhi where he was attending a family function. At the time, Kapoor had said that he was suffering from an infection. After his return to Mumbai, he was again admitted to a hospital with viral fever. He was discharged soon after.

Not only celebrities, politicians and sports fraternity as well took to twitter to condole his death.

President Ram Nath Kovind, called it a huge loss for entertainment industry “Rishi Kapoor’s untimely demise is shocking. An evergreen personality with an always smiling face, he was so full of life that it’s difficult to believe that he is no more,” President added in his tweet.

Tibetan Prime Minister Lobsang Sangay expressed the grief through twitter . “My profound condolences to family members of Rishi Kapoor. My first movie in life was ‘Laila Majnu’ You have entertained me for four decades. I have watched your movies and always enjoyed them as a fan. May you reborn and entertain the world again.” He wrote

“This is unreal and unbelievable. Yesterday Irrfan Khan and today Rishi Kapoor ji. It’s hard to accept this as a legend passes away today. My condolences to the family and may his soul rest in peace,” Virat Kohli tweeted.

“He’s GONE..! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away.. I am destroyed !” Tweeted Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan. He later deleted the tweet.

His wife Neetu Kapoor shared emotional Instagram post and asked the fans and well-wishers to respect the laws that are in force, in the view of the covid-19 lockdown.

Kapoor’s daughter who lives in Delhi with her family will have to travel 1400 kilometers by road as per the special permission granted to her, with flights and trains suspended. RP Meena, DCP Southeast, Delhi Police, told The Times of India, “We gave permission around 10.45am to five people to travel to Mumbai. We have contacted the family, and will provide assistance. We have only approved movement passes. It is understood that as train and flights are not operating, they will travel by road.”

Rishi’s funeral took place at the Chandanwadi crematorium in Kalbadevi on Thursday. His son Ranbir and wife Neetu are by his side, Hindustan Times reported.
