The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has announced plans to hold its Southwest Leadership Summit and Empowerment Programme on Friday, December 18, 2026, in Ogun State.
The summit, themed “Renewing Hope Through Responsible Leadership,” is designed to promote accountable leadership, strengthen student representation and encourage purposeful service among student leaders across the Southwest region.
In a statement dated October 28, 2026, the NANS Southwest leadership described the programme as a strategic initiative aimed at developing leadership capacity, promoting meaningful dialogue and strengthening the commitment of the student movement to students' welfare and advancement.
According to the announcement, the summit will provide a platform for leadership development, networking and the exchange of ideas on the future of student leadership across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states.
The programme will also feature an empowerment component intended to support personal development, improve leadership capacity and explore opportunities that can contribute to students' growth and self-reliance.
NANS Southwest has encouraged student union presidents, student association executives, campus leaders, representatives of tertiary institutions and other stakeholders to prepare to participate in the gathering.
The association also called on government representatives, educational administrators, corporate organisations and development partners to support the initiative and invest in developing the next generation of responsible leaders.
The statement stressed that effective student leadership goes beyond occupying positions, noting that integrity, accountability, competence and dedication to service remain essential to building a progressive student movement.
The leadership further expressed optimism that the summit would strengthen unity, encourage strategic partnerships and inspire a renewed commitment to responsible leadership among students across the region.
The announcement was jointly signed by the NANS Southwest Zone D Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah, popularly known as BILLIONCODES; General Secretary, Comrade Ojetola Babatunde Y. (TOYYEM); and Public Relations Officer, Comrade Olugbemi T. Timothy (CELEBRITY SURVEYOR).
The association urged students and comrades across the Southwest to embrace the vision of the programme and work towards a student movement founded on unity, service and accountability.
