A video showing police officers at an illegal drug-production site has resurfaced online with wording that makes the operation appear recent.
What was claimed
Social posts said a factory producing fake malaria drugs had been found in Ikotun, Lagos, without clearly stating that the footage was years old.
What Verita checked
TheCable Fact Check traced the circulating footage to a December 2018 television report about a police raid in Ikotun. The report documented arrests connected to an illegal drug-manufacturing operation.
The same verification also referenced a NAFDAC alert issued after the 2018 case about falsified medicines associated with the operation.
Verdict: Misleading
The raid shown in the video was real, but it was reported in 2018. Presenting the footage without that date creates the false impression that it documents a new 2026 discovery.
