The clip was already online by December 2024, well before the Osun vote. Africa Check traced versions of the footage to reports about an altercation involving civilians and soldiers in Obuasi East during Ghana’s general election on 7 December 2024.
Verita found no credible Nigerian military statement, election record or contemporaneous reporting that places the video at the 2026 Osun election.
Verdict: Misleading
The footage is real, but the location and timing attached to the viral posts are misleading. Available evidence links it to Ghana’s 2024 election, not the 2026 Osun governorship poll.
