The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has commended Osun State Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi while calling for deeper engagement with students and young people during the administration’s second term.

The position was contained in a statement signed by NANS Southwest Zone D Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (BILLIONCODES).

The association said its assessment was based on its experience as a student representative body and its interactions with government stakeholders, rather than political affiliation.

NANS Southwest noted that Adewusi has served as Deputy Governor since the beginning of the Adeleke administration and also has responsibility for Sports and Special Needs. The Osun State Government’s official profile confirms the portfolio.

The student body also recalled previous engagement involving Adewusi and the student constituency. In October 2024, reports documented an appreciation from NANS Southwest leadership to the Osun Government over education and student welfare, with Adewusi among the officials acknowledged.

NANS Southwest further pointed to Adewusi’s representation of Governor Adeleke at the 2025 International Youth Day celebration in Osogbo. The official Osun Government account of the event said the Governor, through his deputy, encouraged young people to harness technology in addressing contemporary challenges.

Against that background, the student body said the commencement of another term should be accompanied by stronger attention to education, student welfare, employment, entrepreneurship, sports, security and youth inclusion.

NANS Southwest said it would continue to engage government constructively while maintaining its responsibility to speak on issues affecting Nigerian students.

The association also wished Adewusi greater wisdom, strength and capacity for the responsibilities ahead, stressing that the next four years provide an opportunity to build on existing efforts and respond to areas where students and young people expect more.
