Several student and youth organisations in Osun State have condemned the reported abduction of Comrade Alalade Bukola Felix, popularly known as Erudite Machiavelli, from his home in Ilesa in the early hours of Monday, 10 August 2026.
According to statements issued by the groups, the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. when armed men, described in some accounts as masked police officers, allegedly took him away. His whereabouts remained unknown as of the time the statements were released, triggering widespread concern among students, youth leaders and residents of Ijesa South.
One of the statements identified him as a Special Assistant to the Governor on Media. Multiple organisations, including the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council Osun Axis, the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS), the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) Osun Chapter, and the Osun Youth And Students Liberation Forum, issued separate press releases demanding his immediate and unconditional release.
The groups described the incident as an attack on student leadership, freedom of expression and the right of young people to organise without fear. Some of the statements alleged the involvement of a police officer identified as Solomon Wemmy Sunday, popularly called Wemmy. Others linked the action to political actors, though these claims remain unverified.
NANS JCC Osun Axis, in its statement signed by Chairman Comrade Olawole Sheriffdeen Abolaji, called for an immediate search and rescue operation, a thorough investigation, and regular updates to the family and student leadership. The group warned that continued silence could lead to peaceful mass action, including protests at the police headquarters.
NAOSS National Headquarters, in a statement by National President Comrade Ajibola Lateef Folajimmy, described the development as unacceptable and stressed that every student deserves to feel safe in their own home. The association demanded his safe return and concrete steps to protect student leaders from harassment.
NYAN Osun State Chapter, in a statement signed by its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sasona Mayowa Ayomide, strongly condemned the reported abduction and described it as a grave threat to democratic values and the fundamental rights of citizens. NYAN Osun demanded the immediate establishment of the whereabouts of Comrade Alalade Bukola Felix, his safe return, a thorough and impartial investigation, and an end to all forms of political intimidation against young people in the state.
As of the time of this report, there was no official public statement from the Osun State Police Command or other security agencies confirming the incident, the reasons for any arrest, or the current location of Alalade Bukola Felix. The Verita Post was also unable to independently verify the details beyond the press releases issued by the student and youth organisations.
The development comes amid heightened political tension in Osun State ahead of the 15 August governorship election, a period that has already witnessed several high-profile arrests and mutual accusations of intimidation between political camps.
Security agencies have been urged to clarify the situation promptly, ensure the safety of the individual involved, and conduct a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the reported incident.

We are not to live in fear and intimidation!
