Every October 10 is a special day in the life of Alhaji Kazeem Kolapo Akinleye, the Chief of Staff to the Osun State Governor. It marks the beginning of another milestone in the life of a man who has positively touched many lives.

Celebrating Alhaji Akinleye is worthwhile because of his remarkable impact on the lives of many people. Today presents another opportunity for the thousands of people whose lives have been positively influenced by the philanthropic gestures of this noble man of honour to celebrate him.

Alhaji Akinleye is a man who has paved the way for many: a philanthropist par excellence, calm and courageous, and a man who has impacted and continues to impact lives in Osun State and beyond.

Courageous and diligent in handling issues, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye has deployed his intellectual capacity to help stabilise the government of his principal, Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Little wonder he is often referred to as the “Power House” of the Adeleke administration. Indeed, he is a power house who operates quietly but delivers positive results.

A dedicated politician and a man of impeccable character, Alhaji Akinleye has proven to be productive and proactive, personifying excellence in his approach to public service.

His pragmatic approach to issues has earned him respect among his friends and associates. His gentleness, coupled with his spirituality, has contributed significantly to his efforts towards human development.

Alhaji, your generosity and commitment to human development have endeared you to many well-meaning individuals.

A man who clearly understands the political terrain and the concerns of the people, Akinleye is a deeply religious politician of the old Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) extraction who is now a chieftain of the Accord Party, the ruling party in Osun State.

Undeniably, he is the engine room of the present administration in Osun State. Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye previously served as Chairman of Ede North Local Government Area during the administration of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

A thoroughbred grassroots politician, administrator and philanthropist par excellence, Akinleye’s deep sense of humility distinguishes him as a man who enjoys the love and respect of both political and non-political admirers in Osun State and beyond.

An unassuming personality, he possesses an impressive understanding of the workings of the civil service and the dynamics of politics in Osun State and Nigeria at large.

He is a devout Muslim who is guided by Islamic tenets and doctrines, as well as the principles of cultural and social justice.

In the administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke, Alhaji Akinleye is a highly sought-after figure, partly because of his close ties to the Adeleke family of Ede.

Since the Adeleke administration came into office, he has demonstrated his capacity as a seasoned technocrat and administrator, helping to drive the state government’s policies to the best of his knowledge and ability. As a loyal party man who has been tested and trusted, he has continued to make his contributions to governance felt.

There is no gainsaying that he is the driving force and a key figure in the administration, whose immense contributions have significantly shaped its operations.

As Chief of Staff, Akinleye has helped stabilise the administrative structure of his principal. Through his native intelligence, organisational skills and quiet approach to governance, he has contributed to shaping the blueprint for a modern Osun State, consistently working towards positive outcomes.

Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye assumed the position of Chief of Staff to Governor Ademola Adeleke not merely as a political actor but as a seasoned practitioner of human and resource management.

Having previously served as Executive Chairman of Ede North Local Government Area, he brought to the State Secretariat an invaluable asset: a deep, firsthand understanding of grassroots socio-economic realities.

Local government administration is often regarded as a masterclass in direct crisis management, human relations and resource allocation. This experience equipped Akinleye with the practical insight required to manage complex human dynamics while ensuring that government policies remain connected to the everyday realities of ordinary citizens.

A critical evaluation of Akinleye’s stewardship reveals how he translates the historical purpose of the Chief of Staff’s office into practical governance through three distinct operational pillars.

The first is inter-agency synergy and policy delivery. Under the current administration’s mandate, the executive agenda requires extensive collaboration among ministries, departments and agencies. Akinleye serves as a principal coordinator within the administration, helping to overcome bureaucratic bottlenecks and align government institutions to ensure that the governor’s Five-Point Development Agenda moves from policy documents to tangible realities without unnecessary delays.

The second pillar is labour diplomacy and industrial peace. Historically, Osun State’s economic heartbeat has been closely tied to its civil service, an institution that has experienced tensions arising from salary backlogs, promotion delays and workers’ welfare concerns.

Akinleye has functioned as a key bridge between the government and organised labour, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). By maintaining accessible and transparent relationships with union leaders, he has contributed to the smooth implementation of workers’ promotions, wage adjustments and other welfare measures, thereby helping to preserve the industrial harmony necessary for state productivity and effective public administration.

The third pillar is public diplomacy through interpersonal leadership.

Beyond constitutional authority and academic credentials, the true currency of a Chief of Staff is human relations. Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye’s stewardship is defined by his distinctive approach to interpersonal engagement.

His handling of crises reflects a firm and analytical approach to protecting the state’s interests. His commitment to the success of his principal remains paramount, and he consistently initiates programmes and projects aimed at contributing to the emergence of a new Osun State.

A successful Chief of Staff must demonstrate absolute loyalty without hidden personal ambitions. This quality further strengthens the working relationship between Akinleye and his principal, Governor Adeleke.

His philanthropic gestures cannot be overemphasised. He takes great satisfaction in helping and uplifting others. A man of faith who operates with the fear of God, Akinleye has continued to demonstrate his commitment to humanity through his generosity and concern for the welfare of others.

As he celebrates another milestone today, I invite everyone to join me in celebrating this man of honour whose life has been marked by service, generosity and dedication to human development.

Congratulations and happy birthday, sir!
