The Lagos State House of Assembly has confirmed 12 nominees forwarded by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for appointments to two state commissions and an agency board.

The confirmation was carried out during plenary on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, following consideration of a screening report submitted by a 12-member committee chaired by Fatai Mojeed.

Mojeed told lawmakers that the committee assessed the nominees based on their credentials, appearance, performance and comportment before recommending them for confirmation.

Speaker of the House Mudashiru Obasa subsequently put the committee's recommendations to a voice vote, with lawmakers unanimously approving all 12 nominees.

For the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, the Assembly confirmed Murusiq Durosimi and Ahmed Seriki.

Five nominees were confirmed for the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency Board: former Assistant Inspector-General of Police Yetunde Longe, Goriola Oyenusi, Bode Makinde, Adekunle Adelaja and Opeyemi Adetunji.

For the Lagos State Audit Service Commission, lawmakers confirmed Kikelomo Dawodu, Bukola Ogunowo, Omotayo Gbajabiamila-Olamona, Bowale Shosimi and Sunday Kappo.

The latest confirmation completes another stage in the appointment process for the affected commissions and board, which require legislative approval before nominees can fully assume their roles.

Two of the nominees, Durosimi and Seriki, had previously been among nominees whose confirmation to the Local Government Service Commission was deferred by the Assembly in July for further scrutiny. At the time, lawmakers confirmed three other nominees to the commission.

Their confirmation on Tuesday means both have now secured the Assembly's approval.

The lawmakers said the screening process formed part of the House's constitutional and statutory responsibilities in considering appointments requiring legislative confirmation.

The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, whose board received five confirmed nominees, plays a role in community-level security and intelligence support across the state, while the Audit Service Commission oversees aspects of public-sector audit administration.

The confirmation of the 12 nominees clears the way for the Sanwo-Olu administration to proceed with the appointments across the three state bodies.
