Student representatives of the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa (OSCOHEALTH), have passed a vote of confidence in Provost Dr. Lateef Olarewaju Raheem, disputing allegations concerning his administration and calling for an evidence-based assessment of the issues raised.

The position was contained in a joint statement dated October 10, 2026, signed by the Students’ Union Government president, departmental association leaders, class and student representatives, and student officeholders serving in other student organisations.

The statement addressed allegations of maladministration, financial impropriety, diversion of prospective students to a private institution in Ede, compulsory payments to a private medical laboratory and hostel charges.

The signatories argued that the circulation of allegations does not, by itself, establish wrongdoing. They called on the relevant authorities to examine any formal complaints through appropriate procedures and give all parties a fair opportunity to be heard.

To support their assessment of Raheem’s administration, the student representatives cited reported improvements in the College’s physical and academic environment, including the ICT Centre, Medical Imaging Laboratory, X-Ray Imaging Laboratory, Dispensing Opticianry Laboratory and Dental Clinic.

They also listed reported renovations to the auditorium and library, computer procurement, ICT improvements and efforts towards programme accreditation.

The statement referenced an inspection visit on October 7, 2026, involving a delegation led by NANS National Financial Secretary, Comrade Alao John Oluwadamilola, and NANS Southwest Zone D Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode.

According to the signatories, the delegation inspected facilities within the College. The statement, however, did not provide independent documentation quantifying the reported improvements.

On the allegation of prospective-student diversion, the representatives said the claim should not be accepted as established without verifiable evidence.

They also said they were not aware of a blanket institutional policy compelling students to use a particular private medical laboratory. Regarding the alleged ₦100,000 hostel payment, they maintained that the College does not have an officially designated student hostel within its premises and said they were unaware of an institutional directive imposing the stated charge.

The student leaders appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Commissioner for Education and the College’s Governing Council to consider students’ experiences in any assessment of the administration.

They concluded by passing a vote of confidence in Raheem and calling for institutional stability, academic continuity and the protection of students’ educational interests.

The joint statement was signed by the following student leaders, association officers and representatives:

  1. Dist. Sen. Comr. Badiru Rohees Olawale (Moore) — President, Students’ Union Government (SUG), OSCOHEALTH.
  2. Obajolu Oluwagbenga — President, National Association of Health Information Management Students (NAHIMS).
